The Christmas season is officially upon us. Jared and I had the opportunity to go to the Kurt Bestor Christmas concert on Monday night (a former Hemmert family tradition that only we have continued to observe). It was great, but the ambiance at UVSC is not quite the same as Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake. We'll take it for the 2 less hours of babysitting, though. The kids have now seen Santa and made their requests and (probably) empty promises of perfect behavior. The tree, decorations and lights are up, so even though we are still in November, Christmas is here! Why does it seem to come earlier every year? Hmmm........

The first post!
I am finally posting to our blog. Can you believe it? This first post is a response to being "tagged" by Laurie. I guess it's a good place to start, so here is my list of six things that you may not know about me.
1. I am a democrat. Before we moved to our current house, I was the state representative for our precinct. Many family members on both sides of our family are ashamed and horrified, but what can I say?
2. I love Pink Bubblegum ice cream from Baskin Robbins (I'm not 7 years old, either).
3. I live in Utah and do NOT ski. This is very sad for Jared. He LOVES skiing.
4. I love a good bargain almost more than anything else. I think Black Friday should be a national holiday. Yes, I was in line at 4:30 am last week to get some good deals.
5. My Christmas shopping is almost done.
6. I have a compulsive need to be 'connected.' You can reach me at almost anytime day or night via email or cell phone. Many people have never even heard my voice mail message.
There you have it!
